Booking Through Thursday!

Booking Through Thursday @ Booking Through Thursday. Weekly bookish writing prompts.

This week’s prompt is What books have you been required to read that you ended up loving?

This post is totally late but I’m going to still post it anyway. I was going to say I don’t have a book but then I remembered that I took a contemporary young adult book class and of course they had a marvelous selection of boos. I finally read The Book Thief during that class and I really loved it. I cried a lot because the ending was totally sad but I loved it none the less and there was another book A Separate Peace, that I surprisingly really liked too and it’s not the type of book that I would usually go for, so that was new.

Thanks for reading!

Top Ten Tuesday!

ttthHello everyone!

I’m back with another Top Ten Tuesday! I haven’t done this in a while so bare with me.

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish.

This weeks Top Ten Tuesday is  Ten Underrated/Hidden Gem Books I’ve Read In The Past Year Or So.

That is a lot of books considering I only read 40 books that I counted last year and most of them were probably popular books. On the other hand I do read a lot of harlequin books that I don’t count toward my reading challenge and almost all of them are underrated. However, I’m not going to mention those and I’ll try to fill up this list to the best of my ability. Here we go! Looking through my goodreads I’m going to considered underrated with under 5,000 ratings!

  1. The Power by Jennifer L. Armentrout
  2. Curse of the Spinx by Raye Wagner
    1. This book is definitely different and that is a trend you are going to see when going down the list. It’s just not your average day popular books here and maybe that’s why they are underrated (who knows). But just because it’s different doesn’t make it any less good. I think it makes it better because it’s not what you expected. Before I read this book I didn’t even know what Spinx was and I admit that it may be a little weird and not the most attractive creature one would one to turn into but it’s still a good book and definitely worth the read.
  3. Tone Deaf – Olivia Rivers
    1. I’m not really that surprised to see that there aren’t a lot of ratings for this book because it’s one of those lowkey books that you stumble upon. But once you do get to know it you’ll find that it’s actually really good. It’s about a deaf girl and you don’t see many of those so it was good that she brought that aspect into the book. I just wished more people read it.
  4. Dreamology – Lucy Keating
    1. Actually surprised by the lack of ratings on this book because I found this one all over Instagram, I just kept on seeing it and I was like that’s a really pretty book I should probably read it. It was also really good with a different concept and it’s refreshing to see new ideas.
  5. This is my brains on boys – Sarah Strohmeyer
    1. If you’re looking for a cute fun contemporary read then this is the book for you. I’m surprised not many contemporary lovers haven’t picked this one up. I know it’s not by Sarah Dessen but people it’s still good.
  6. The Female of the Species – Mindy Mcginnis
    1. This book may have made me cry and didn’t end the way I want it to, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that it’s a really good book with a very interesting concept behind it. Sure you’ll be balling your eyes out by the end but it still *sniffles whilst writing this* worth the read.

I found only six (thank god) but I’m actually appalled that these books are even on this list. Some of them, yeah I get nobody knows about it but some of them I’m actually really shocked I thought they were way more popular than they were because I found these books on social media.

Anyway that’s it for my TTT, thanks for reading!

Thursday Tracks!

Screen Shot 2016-05-19 at 2.04.33 PM

Hosted by: Gone with the Words
Description: Thursday Tracks is a musical meme. All you have to do is feature a song and/or video you’ve been enjoying recently, or even pair a book and a song that go well together.

I have pandora to thank for this song coming back into my life lately and I’ve just been playing it on repeat:

The book I chose to pair this song with is Ten Tiny Breaths by K.A. Tucker because when I listen to the lyrics I feel like they just click. The story matches up so well with the lyrics of the song.

Have any of you read this book? What do you think of my song match up? I’ve been looking at playlist for this book but no one put this song on it, so tell me what you think.

Description: WWW Wednesday is a weekly event where you share (1) What you’re currently reading, (2) What you recently finished reading, and (3) What you think you’ll read next.

So I’m currently reading Percy Jackson The Battle of the Labyrinth

I recently finished reading Percy Jackson The Titans Curse

I’ll probably read next Percy Jackson The Last Olympian

If you notice there’s a theme here. I’ve been binge reading the Percy Jackson series for the past 4 days, first time reading it and if you can’t tell, I really enjoy it since I’m continuing reading it.

Stacking The Shelves

Screen Shot 2016-05-14 at 5.51.54 PM

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews

Description: Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

So I recently added Percy Jackson’s The Olympians Series to my ebook shelves. I just finished reading Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief and now I’m going to read The Sea of Monsters. It’s about time that I’ve picked up these books, I really love stories about demigods and I was meaning to read this book, so now that school is finally over and I’m avoiding writing my paper I figured its the perfect time right.

That’s What He Said Thursday!

Screen Shot 2016-04-16 at 10.10.30 PM

This meme is hosted by chapterbreak and its a weekly meme where you post your favorite line said by a book boyfriend to his heroine.

So finding this quote took a lot of work. It’s from The Mortal Instrument series and there are six books, granted i only read three, I didn’t know which one it was in. I also didn’t even know the line I just knew one word from it. Thank God for ebooks and the ability to search through them so I went through the three and a quarter books I read look for it, searching different words and everything. Low and behold I find it in the book where I only read a quarter of it which is City of Fallen Angels, but it was totally worth it cause I really love this quote.

6752378

“I swear on the Angel.” He ducked his head down, kissed her cheek. “The hell with that. I swear on us.”
Clary wound her fingers into the sleeve of his T-shirt. “Why us?”
“Because there isn’t anything I believe in more.”

Excerpt From: Cassandra Clare. “The Mortal Instruments 04 – City of Fallen Angels.” iBooks.

I think think it’s one of the cutest things Jace said and my heart just melts every time I read it!

Top Ten Tuesday!

ttth
Everyone loves a good laugh and something light and airy after reading something really heavy and so it’s a good thing that this weeks TTT is ten books that will make you laugh. I feel like these books will get a little something out of you. They certainly got a lot out of me!

sss

  1. Finding Audrey – Sophie Kinsella
    1. So good and funny, it made me laugh out loud. Review
  2. Boys that Bite – Mari Mancusi
    1. If you want a funny vampire series this is it
  3. You Are So Undead to Me – Megan Berry
    1. Just the title alone sounds funny
  4. Velvet – Temple West
    1. It’s the kind of vampire book that will make you get back into vampires again. Really funny and had me metaphorically dying of embarrassment for her at this one particular scene (if you read it you know what i’m talking about *wink wink*)
  5. Forgive My Fins – Tera Lynn Childs
    1. Who doesn’t love mermaids and Tera Lynn Childs does a good job at making people laugh.
  6. Obsidian – Jennifer L. Armentrout
    1. Relatable to book lovers alike, except for the whole having an alien as a neighbor thing. But Daemon and Katy have their witty comments and back and forth that just keeps you going.
  7. Nightlight – The Harvard Lampoon
    1. I just have to throw a parody in there because it is literally made to make you laugh.
  8. Oh. My. Gods. – Tera Lynn Childs
    1. Demigods, enough said.
  9. Save The Date – Tamara Summers
    1. A wedding curse. Intrigued?
  10. Jinx – Meg Cabot
    1. Theres one particular scene that just gets me every time.

Have you read any of these books and what are books that make you guys laugh?

That’s What He Said Thursday!

Screen Shot 2016-04-16 at 10.10.30 PM

This meme is hosted by chapterbreak and its a weekly meme where you post your favorite line said by a book boyfriend to his heroine.

I’m really happy that I found this meme because I was recently thinking of one of my favorite line said by a guy in a book. Its from Attachments by Rainbow Rowell.

“There’s no air in space,” he said. That’s it, that’s the last line of the book, but I suppose I should give some context.

8909152“I didn’t know someone could love me like this,” she said. “Could love me and love me and love me without … needing space.” Lincoln wasn’t asleep. He rolled on top of her. “There’s no air in space,” he said.

Aww if that isn’t the cutest thing I don’t know what is. I love this line so much and I love this book so much and I’m really excited for this meme!

Top 5 Wednesday!

Aww this weeks top 5 Wednesday (created by Lainey) is least favorite book in your favorite series and it makes me sad cause they are my favorite series for a reason! So I dig deep deep deep deep deep down and was able to come up with this.

g

  1. Hades from Halo series by Alexandra Adornetto
  2. Dead Silence from The Body Finder series by Kimberly Derting
  3. Spell bound from Hex Hall series by Rachel Hawkins
  4. Deadly little voices from the Touch series by Laurie Faria Stolarz
  5. Awaken from the Abandon series by Meg Cabot

It wasn’t easy but I did it, I don’t have anything bad to say about them because they are books in my favorite series. With the exception of two they are mostly last books because I just chose the book that ended the series and that would make me sad.

Deadly little voices is the 4th book and I chose that one because things got a bit rocky in that book, for the characters not the writing. And Hades is the 2nd book and I chose it because things also got a bit rocky there too.

That’s it for this weeks top five Wednesday, what are yours?

Happy Reading!
